Virtual Trainer: Overtraining

Most weekend warriors fall into the category of not getting enough exercise. But there is also a segment of the riding community that just doesn't know when to say when. Overtraining and the resulting deterioration of riding performance is, in some ways, worse than not training enough. If you are one of those people who think that more is better and that you should go until you drop every time you train, chances are you are overtraining. If you ask any top trainer or rider in the sport, they would all tell you the most important aspect in getting strong and remaining strong is recovery. Recovery not only requires proper nutrition but the right amount of rest. This is one area that the 'go for broke' person has trouble wrapping their mind around: rest to get stronger!
